Knowing is not doing

I had a heated discussion with one of my internet friends lately around whether Europe can quickly catch up with Asia and America in terms of economic growth. I said that tradition is strong in Europe and changes take time. He said that but the leaders must know what need to be done. Yes, but knowing something and actually taking action on it are two separate things. I responded. It is a simple truth yet very often we ignore it.

We know that we should not lash out on close friends and people who really care about us. And yet we do it over and over again. We know that if we continue to binge watch that Netflix series we won’t be able to finish the coding lesson we promise ourselves. Yet more often than not, we don’t act upon what we know.

If you ask me, the hardest thing in the world is not knowing but doing accordingly. If we extend it to entrepreneurship. It is easy to have a good idea, even a brilliant one. But it is much harder to execute the idea.

From now on, my goal is to do what I know. No matter how difficult the path is.
