To me, Lewis Hamilton was just another celebrity who started his own restaurant business before I watched the documentary “Drive to Survive“. But now, he is a living legend in my heart.
For Christ’s sake, F1 driver is a tough job. The contract term is short, one year normally. For most drivers, you are constantly on the look out of keeping your seat or finding a new seat. How do you keep your job? Keep scoring. The day you stopped scoring your careers end. It is no exaggeration to say that you are as good as your last race.
What’s worse? It is a lonely game. Your teammate is your worst enemy. If you consistently underperform your teammate, you need to start looking. Could you even imagine training or even maintaining friendly daily interaction with someone who threatens your job?
To win, it requires peak physical and mental performance. Consistently.
Only the fittest survive. It applies to F1 racing, and life in general.
